Cookie Policy

Last updated: October 14, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how SERVICES COMPTABLES ACCOUNT DIRECT inc. (ACCOUNT DIRECT BOOKKEEPING SERVICES inc.) ("Account Direct", "we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website or use our service. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more generally.

1. About cookies

A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device. Cookies let a site recognise your device, remember your settings, keep you signed in, and understand how the site is used.

We also use technologies that work in a similar way, such as local storage and pixels. In this policy we use the word "cookies" to refer to cookies and these similar technologies together.

In accordance with applicable Quebec privacy law, we inform you that some of the technologies described below can be used to identify, locate, or build a profile of a user, and we give you the means to turn off the technologies that are not strictly necessary.

2. Why we use cookies

We use cookies to:

  • sign you in and keep your session secure;
  • remember the choices and preferences you set, including your cookie choices;
  • keep the service reliable and protect it against fraud and abuse;
  • understand how the service is used so that we can improve it.

We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles about you, and we do not sell information about you.

3. The categories of cookies we use

The first time you visit, a cookie banner lets you accept or refuse each category of optional cookies. Essential cookies cannot be turned off because the service cannot function without them. You can change your choices at any time using the Cookie Settings link in the footer.

3.1 Essential cookies (always active)

These cookies are necessary for the site to function. They sign you in, keep your session secure, remember your cookie choice and the choices you make yourself, such as the site's language or how a page is laid out, and help protect against fraud on pages where you make a payment. They also help us keep your data safe. Because they are required to deliver a service you have asked for, they do not require your consent and cannot be switched off in our systems. Some are set by trusted providers that operate parts of our platform on our behalf.

3.2 Functional cookies (optional)

We do not currently use functional cookies. The choices you make yourself, such as the site's language, are kept as essential cookies (section 3.1). If we introduce optional preference cookies in the future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent before they are activated.

3.3 Improved performance cookies (optional)

These cookies tell us how the service is used, for example which pages are most useful and where errors occur, so that we can improve it. When you are signed in, the information they collect is linked to the randomized account number assigned to you, never to your name or email; otherwise it is anonymous. It is deleted after 12 months. If you refuse these cookies, we will not collect this usage information about your visit, and you can still use the service normally.

3.4 Advertising cookies (optional)

We do not currently use advertising cookies. If we introduce them in the future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent before they are activated.

4. First-party and third-party cookies

Some cookies are set by Account Direct directly. Others are set by service providers that help us operate the platform, for example, providers that host the service, process payments securely, or measure performance. Where a provider sets cookies through our service, it may only use them to deliver its service to us; it is not permitted to use them for its own separate purposes, and we do not allow any third party to use cookies on our service for advertising.

5. How long cookies last

Cookies are either session cookies, which are removed when you close your browser, or persistent cookies, which stay on your device for a set period or until you delete them. We keep persistent cookies only for as long as is needed for the purpose they serve.

6. How to control cookies

You can control cookies in several ways.

6.1 Our cookie banner

The first time you visit, a banner lets you accept or refuse each category of optional cookies. You can revisit your choices at any time through the Cookie Settings link in the footer.

6.2 Your browser

Most browsers let you view, manage, and delete cookies, and let you refuse some or all of them. You can usually find these controls in your browser's settings or preferences menu. For instructions specific to your browser, see:

Many browsers also support a "Do Not Track" signal and a "Global Privacy Control" signal. When your browser sends one of these signals, we keep analytics and advertising cookies off, even if you accept them, and we record the signal with your choice.

6.3 What happens if you refuse cookies

If you refuse strictly necessary cookies through your browser, parts of the service will not work, for example, you may not be able to sign in. Refusing optional cookies does not affect your ability to use the service; it only means we will not collect optional information about your visit.

7. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time as we add or remove technologies or as the law changes. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. We will tell you about material changes in the same way we tell you about material changes to our Privacy Policy.
