Your corporation's books and taxes, taken care of

Account Direct keeps your corporation's books, prepares your sales tax returns and files them once you approve them. It's included in our bookkeeping plan, from $49.99 per month. Your corporation's income tax returns are available as an add-on: the T2 federally, plus the CO-17 in Quebec or the AT1 in Alberta. Keep your own books? We can also prepare just your returns, on a quote.

Professional representation and electronic filing authorized by Revenu Québec.

Who it's for

  • Small and medium-sized incorporated businesses in Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia, whether they're just starting or long established.
  • Newly incorporated businesses that want to start on the right foot, with sales tax registration if they need it.
  • Corporations that keep their own books and only want us to file their income tax returns.
  • Corporations that have fallen behind and want a clean start (catch-up work for earlier years is quoted separately).

What's included

  • Bookkeeping: your transactions recorded and classified, your bank and credit card accounts reconciled, your general ledger kept up to date.
  • Your sales tax returns, such as the GST/HST and the QST, prepared and filed electronically once you approve them, and your corporation's registration if it isn't registered yet.
  • Your financial reports in your portal: income statement, balance sheet and other reports agreed with you.
  • The invoicing tool in your portal, which calculates the GST/HST, QST or PST for the province of sale.

As an add-on

  • Your corporation's annual income tax returns, prepared and filed electronically once you approve them: the T2 federally, which includes the Ontario and British Columbia tax, plus the CO-17 in Quebec or the AT1 in Alberta.
  • The year-end slips and summaries agreed with you, such as T4 and T5 slips, prepared and filed electronically.

Quoted separately

  • Your corporation's income tax returns on their own, if you keep your own books.
  • Tax planning beyond preparing your returns.
  • Shareholders' personal returns.
  • Returns for earlier years (catch-up work).

How it works

  1. Create your account. Our team reviews it and emails you when it's approved.

  2. Upload your documents to your portal: bank and card statements, invoices and receipts.

  3. We keep your books every month and prepare your sales tax returns.

  4. You approve, we file. At year end, with the add-on, we also prepare your corporation's income tax returns and your slips.

Frequently asked questions

Which returns does my corporation have to file?

Every year, the T2 with the Canada Revenue Agency. In Ontario and British Columbia, the provincial tax is calculated on the T2: there is no separate provincial return. In Quebec, the corporation also files the CO-17 with Revenu Québec, and in Alberta, the AT1 with Alberta's Tax and Revenue Administration.

My corporation had no income this year: does it still have to file?

Yes for the T2: a corporation files it every year, even if it was inactive and even if it has no tax to pay. In Quebec, the same goes for the CO-17. In Alberta, a small private corporation with no taxable income can be exempt from the AT1 if it meets all of the province's conditions: we check it with you.

When are the returns due?

The T2, the CO-17 and the AT1 are due within six months after the end of the fiscal year. Any balance of tax is generally due two months after the end of the fiscal year: after that date, interest applies.

Can you file my corporation's returns if I keep my own books?

Yes. If you keep your books yourself or with someone else, we prepare and file your corporation's income tax returns from your books, on a quote. If you also have us keep your books, your sales tax returns are included in the plan.

Does my corporation have to register for sales taxes?

Yes, once its taxable sales go over $30,000 in a single calendar quarter or over the last four calendar quarters combined: for the GST/HST anywhere in Canada, and also for the QST in Quebec. We take care of the registration.

Are my personal returns as a shareholder included?

No. The add-on covers the corporation's income tax returns and its year-end slips. Shareholders' personal returns and tax planning are quoted separately.
